Connecting Communities on Thank You Day

Millions come together to say thank you to those who helped us through the pandemic on Thank You Day. From neighbours to nurses, from best mates to mums – we all had someone to say thank you to.

  • 2 million people took part in Thank You Day events or activties
  • 44% of the UK Public were aware of, or familiar with Thank You Day

Of those who attended a Thank You Day event or activity:

  • 88% said talked to someone from a different background to themselves
  • 62% said it made their area feel more united
  • 63% said it helped them meet someone new in their area
  • 62% said it helped them feel more positive about their local area

Evidence is also emerging that people who took part in the day are more likely to volunteer and get involved in their local community in future. 

We will be releasing a full evaluation of Thank You Day later this summer, which has been made possible thanks to Spirit of 2012 and Virgin Media O2.
